History:
  Alfred was a graduate of Kensington High School in Buffalo, NY. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1952 his decorations of service include the Korean Service Medal w/ 3 Bronze Stars, 1 O/S Bar and United Nations Service Medal. After fulfilling his military duties Mr. Bednarek went on to continue his education at Erie County Technical Institute. Al was employed by Trico in Buffalo, New York as a lead set up man retiring after 42 years of service.

  He was a member of St. Teresa’s RC Church in Akron, as well as a member of the former St. Patrick’s RC Church in Crittenden, NY. Mr. Bednarek was very active in the Crittenden Volunteer Fire Co. for many years. He also served as President for 7 years.

  “Bart” was a life member of the VFW Post #7967 in Alden, as well as the American Legion Post #1377 also of Alden. He enjoyed horses, woodworking and was on the Trico Company golf and bowling leagues for several years.

Family:
  Son of the late Walter and Antoinette (Musialowski) Bednarek. He was the loving husband of Joyce (James) Bednarek whom he married in 1953. Dear father of Michael (Suzanne) Bednarek of Jamesville, NY and Martin Bednarek of Daly City, CA., cherished grandfather of Todd Bednarek, brother of Irene Nowak and the late Edward, Henry, Walter "Butch" Bednarek and his twin sister Alfrieda Sokolowski, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Viewing info:
  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday in St. Teresa’s RC Church Akron, by Monsignor Robert J. Williamson. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron.
Burial:
  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery Crittenden, NY.
Memorials:
  In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Bart’s memory may be made to the Alden VFW Post 7967.
