Age 91 Place of Birth: Pembroke, NY Place of Passing: Brothers of Mercy Nursing & Rehab Center in Clarence, NY Resided in: Akron, NY History: He was the son of the late Joseph and Harriet (Anderson) Carlo. Joe graduated from Akron High School in the class of 1935. He went on to become the Regional Sales Manager for Ford Motor Co. After that he was employed by Kar Products in Chicago, IL selling auto parts, retiring after many years. Mr. Carlo was a member of St. Teresa's RC Church in Akron, where he served as an usher and bingo cashier and also was involved in the catholic charities within the church. Through his dedication in his parish work, he received the St. Joseph's Worker of the Year Award. Mr. Carlo was a member of the Moose Lodge in Batavia, Knights of Columbus and was also an exempt member of the Akron Fire Co. Family: Beloved husband of the late Estella (Staebell) Carlo, died 2003; loving father of Raymond (Sharon) Carlo Jr. of Akron, Daniel (Annie) Carlo of Snyder, Jane (late Louis Sr.) Caccamise of Akron, Steven (Lynn) Carlo of Clarence and the late Margaret Rose Carey; proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; dear brother of the late Vera, Claude and Lorraine Tyler, John and Betty Carlo; several nieces and nephews also survive. Viewing info: Family will receive friends Sunday from 3-7 PM in the CHILDS FUNERAL HOME- 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 1 PM in St. Teresa's RC Church, Akron. Msgr. Robert J. Williamson officiating. Burial: Burial will be in St. Teresa's Cemetery, Akron. Memorials: Expressions of sympathy in Mr. Carlo's memory may be made to the Brothers of Mercy Activity Fund, 10570 Bergtold Rd., Clarence, NY 14031.
